Thanks for evoking everything that is fucked about engineering! I really regret doing the high-school level optics problem (Snell's law, whaaaat?!?) on the midterm instead of the crazy-fucking-E&M derivation given a choice between the two. You're right, I should interpret an arbitrary, timed test as a veritable educational experience.
